Kapolei Business Park, Phase 2, Will Offer Much-Needed Industrial Space on Oahu

HONOLULU – Avalon Development Company LLC announced that it has closed on the purchase of the long-awaited Kapolei Business Park, Phase 2, and that 17 fee-simple industrial properties will be available for presale by this summer.

“The Kapolei Business Park, Phase 2, is a 54-acre subdivision that will be developed adjacent to the existing Kapolei Business Park, Phase 1, on Kalaeloa Boulevard,” said Christine Camp, Avalon president and CEO. “This is a rare opportunity for businesses to purchase fee-simple industrial property on Oahu.”

There has been intense demand for industrial space for the past few years, according to Guy Kidder, vice president of Colliers International, real estate broker for both the Avalon purchase and the future sale of lots to individual businesses.

Atlas Insurance Agency, Inc., Hawaii’s largest insurance agency, has appointed Carol Davis as Senior Vice President in its Client Consulting Group.  In her new role, Davis will continue to lead the marketing and servicing of the company’s Non-Profit and Health Care clientele.

Davis has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry.  Her specialties include: Non-Profit, Healthcare, Hospitality and Owner-Controlled Insurance programs. Davis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a Master of Business Administration degree from Chaminade University, holds a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and is a member of the Hawaii Long-Term Care Association.

Island Insurance Company, Ltd., the State’s largest locally-owned Property and Casualty insurance carrier, is the first in Hawaii to offer Contractors Errors and Omissions (E & O) Coverage to its commercial insurance policyholders. 

Contractors E & O Coverage is an optional coverage that protects small contractors from claims of property damage against their work, product, or impaired property caused by unintentional faulty workmanship or materials.  With coverage limits of: $500,000 per claim limit and $1 million aggregate limit, this coverage is especially beneficial to small contractors and those engaged in specialized trades including but not limited to:

HONOLULU — Bonterra Solar Hawaii partner and sales director Christian Adams has been named company president.

Adams joined Bonterra Solar as a partner and sales director in July 2013 after working with a number of solar companies in Hawaii, as well as a large electrical contracting firm as head of its alternative energy division.

Island Insurance Foundation Recognizes 13 Public School Principals

The Island Insurance Foundation has recognized 12 outstanding public school principals nominated for its 10th Annual Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award in a presentation ceremony on Saturday, March 29th.

Island Insurance Foundation President Tyler Tokioka and Department of Education representatives presented commendations to the nominees in a ceremony at the Island Insurance Center. The Island Insurance Foundation presented each nominee with a $1,000 personal cash award and commemorative plaque.

The recipient of the annual award, named in honor of the late Masayuki Tokioka, founder of Island Insurance Company, Ltd., will be announced at the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation Dinner on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
