Man arrested for stealing moped in Waikiki

A 30-year-old man is in custody for allegedly trying to steal a moped from a Waikiki complex on Saturday.

According to police, Lokahi Lemmon was caught on video allegedly trying to steal the moped.

The moped was found moved to a remote area of the building's parking lot.

Police were called back to the scene when Lemmon was spotted in the back area.

He was then arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft.

Honolulu police arrested nine people after they allegedly tried to take a man's new iPhone 4S in Waikiki.

According to police, an 18 year old took the phone from the victim as he was walking.

The suspects, including five juveniles, reportedly surrounded the victim and asked for money fro the phone back.

They then allegedly started kicking and punching the victim and tried to take his wallet and money.

They reportedly scattered when they heard sirens, but were later caught.

Honolulu police have arrested a man suspected of attacking his estranged wife.

The 42-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after the victim pointed him out to officers passing by.

According to police, the original attack happened back in August in the Waikiki area.

Police say the woman was sent to the hospital with "substantial injuries."

HPD searching for 2 suspects in Ala Moana robbery

Honolulu police are looking for two suspects involved in a weekend robbery and attack in the Ala Moana area.

According to officials, the incident happened late Saturday night when a 37-year-old man was approached by two men.

The suspects allegedly demanded his property and attacked him before running away.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call police

Waikiki robbery suspect arrested

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Waikiki robbery.

According to police, Weldox Medina approached a woman near the Honolulu Zoo and robbed her.

Police say a gun was reported to have been used during the crime, but no weapon was found when he was arrested nearby.

Medina has a mainland address.

He faces a charge of first-degree robbery.

From his dorm room at Texas Christian University, Matthew Moyers told Hawaii News Now he was the target of an unprovoked attack.

"He grabbed a fifth of alcohol and swung it, hit me from behind. Hit me right here in the temple. So that knocked me out," he said via Skype.

Moyers said the beating sent him to the hospital.

"I was bleeding out of my mouth and my nose. I was on the ground and he came back over to my unconscious body and he started stomping on me," he said.

Honolulu police said on July 17, Moyers and some friends were standing on the shoreline near the Outrigger hotel at one in the morning.

"The male approached the group, asked them if they wanted to buy dugs. When they refused, he challenged them to a fight. He became mad," said Sgt. Kim Buffett of CrimeStoppers.

She said the attacker struck two girls that were in the group, then he went after Moyers.

Man arrested for arson following Waikiki hotel fire

An 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly starting a fire in a Waikiki hotel bathroom.

According to police, witnesses saw Wayne Kanakanui-Faumuina set fire to a toilet paper dispenser in the women's restroom of the Hyatt Regency earlier this month.

Police arrested Kanakanui-Faumuina at his home in Haleiwa on Tuesday.
