HAWAII POPS ANNOUNCES PREMIERE SEASON LINEUP *Season to Kick Off on September 14, 2013 with Country Music Superstar Jo Dee Messina*   HONOLULU (July 30, 2013) – Hawaii Pops, Hawaii’s first independent pops organization led by artistic director Matt Catingub, today announced its premiere season lineup of concerts. The season opens on Saturday, September 14, 2013, and runs through Saturday, May 31, 2014, with one event each month, offering music lovers a choice of two distinct experiences: the “Orchestra Series” will feature a concert with special guest artists, dinner and dancing at the Hawaii Convention Center Ballroom; “Live at Lewers” will offer a more intimate evening with special guest artists performing at the Halekulani Hotel’s sophisticated contemporary jazz lounge.  The Orchestra Series will take place on select Saturday evenings, and one Sunday evening, beginning at 8 p.m. at the Hawaii Convention Center Ballroom: 
  • September 14, 2013 – Premiere Season Opener: Dinner, Dance & Concert. Starring country music superstar Jo Dee Messina.
  • October 20, 2013 – The Songs of Bond… James Bond: Dinner, Dance & Concert. In conjunction with the Hawaii International Film Festival. Special appearance by Sheena Easton; starring Nathan Aweau, Cathy Foy and other guest artists.
  • December 21, 2013 – It’s the Holiday Season!: Dinner, Dance & Concert. Starring Amy Hanaiali‘i, the Diamond Head Theater Shooting Stars; special appearances by Jim Nabors and Emma Veary.
  • January 25, 2014 – The Music and Artists of Hawaii: Dinner, Dance & Concert. Starring Keali‘i Reichel. 
  • March 15, 2014 – Driven to Dance: Dinner, Dance & Concert. An evening of high-energy music and fun. Special appearance by pop music icon Taylor Dayne. 
  • May 31, 2014 – Premiere Season Finale: Dinner, Dance & Concert. Starring music legend Al Jarreau.
 Live at Lewers will take place on select Friday and Saturday evenings with two sets each night beginning at 8 p.m. and at 10 p.m. at the Halekulani Hotel:   
  • November 15 and 16, 2013: Jack Jones, The Singer’s Singer
  • February 21 and 22, 2014: Robert Cazimero and the Great American Songbook
  • April 18 and 19, 2014: Tierney Sutton, Jazz Songstress
  Donna Bebber, Executive Director, said that, “the Orchestra Series offers a night out complete with excellent music, food, dancing and the special ambiance of a classic Hollywood nightclub. Live at Lewers is a smaller, more intimate event with musicians and special guests not ten feet away. We’re excited for the season to begin.” The Orchestra Series offers theatre-style seating, seating at tables of 10, and seating at cocktail tables of six. Individual tickets are $35 for theatre style, $60 at a cocktail table and $75 at a table of 10. Table purchases are $360 for a cocktail table of six and $750 for a table of 10.
